On Friday, 26 April, Kylie had the privilege of presenting at the University of Exeter’s 2024 Anthrozoology Residential, focusing on the collaborative relationships between canines and humans in conservation efforts. Kylie's discussion encompassed various aspects, such as how dogs are integral team members, desired conservation detection dog characteristics, responsibilities of the human team member, and an overview of the scent training process.
Having received her masters in Anthrozoology from the University of Exeter just last year, it was truly fulfilling to share insights with current students, faculty, and fellow alumni during the residential. The opportunity to share insights with a diverse audience was deeply gratifying. It represented a culmination of her academic journey and a chance to contribute to the scholarly discourse within the anthrozoological community.
Spanning the entire weekend, the Anthrozoology Residential provided a platform for intellectual exchange and scholarly engagement. Attendees were treated to a rich array of presentations from global experts, each offering unique perspectives on the intricate dynamics between humans and other non-human animals.
For Kylie and her fellow attendees, the event served as a poignant reminder of the profound interconnectedness between humans and other non-human animals—a connection that necessitates collaborative stewardship and responsible action to ensure the well-being of all inhabitants of this planet.
